The JW Pet, PetSmart “Puppy Love letter” Essay Contest
NO PURCHASE/UPC NUMBER REQUIRED IN AZ, CO, FL, IL, MD, NJ, ND, TN AND VT. Residents of all other states must include a UPC number from a JW Pet Dog Toy on their entry forms (see details below). Internet access is required to participate.
1. Entry Period: The JW Pet, PetSmart “Puppy Love Letter Essay Contest” (“Contest”), sponsored by JW Pet Company (“Sponsor”), begins on 6/17/13 at 12:00:01 a.m. Eastern Time (“ET”) and ends on 8/30/13 at 11:59 p.m. ET (the “Contest Period”), by which time all entries must be received. Entries received after the end of the Contest Period will not be included in this Contest. Sponsor is the official timekeeper for the Contest.
2. Eligibility: The Contest is open to legal residents of the 50 United States and District of Columbia (“D.C.”) only who are 18 years of age or older (19 or older if a resident of AL or NE) at time of entry. The following are NOT eligible to enter or win: (a) Employees, officers and directors of Sponsor, its parent company, divisions, subsidiaries and affiliates, and the agents and advertising and promotion agencies of each of the foregoing; (b) any entity that develops, produces, or distributes materials for or related to this Contest; and (c) members of the immediate families (defined for these purposes as including spouse, biological, adoptive or step-parents, children, siblings, grandparents, grandchildren and each of their respective spouses, regardless of where they reside) or households (whether related or not) of any of the above By participating in the Contest, entrants agree to be bound by these Official Rules, and the decisions of the official judging agency, which are final and binding. The Contest is subject to all applicable federal, state and local laws and regulations, and is void outside the 50 United States and D.C. and where prohibited by law.
3. How to Enter: Visit www.jwpet.com/puppylovecontest (the “Web site”) during the Contest Period and follow the onscreen instructions to complete an entry form. You must supply all requested information, including a UPC number from any JW Pet Dog Toy (unless you live in one of the states listed above in which no UPC is required to enter).
Next, prepare an original essay in the form of a “Puppy Love Letter” from your dog (as if he/she were writing it) to JW Pet Company telling the company why he/she loves his/her JW Pet dog toy. The essay must be in English, and may not consist of more than one-hundred (100) words. Follow the on-screen instructions to submit your complete entry. Essays that exceed one-hundred (100) words will disqualify your entry. Please refer to the judging criteria in Rule 4, below, when creating your essay.
Limit one entry per household. Proof of submission of an entry does not constitute proof of receipt of such entry by Sponsor. By entering, each entrant represents that his/her entry is his/ her original work, and that the entry has not been submitted in any other contest or won any award in any contest or promotion. Modifying, enhancing or altering a third party’s pre-existing work does not qualify as entrant’s original creation. The Sponsor reserves the right to disqualify any entry that it determines (in its sole discretion) to contain any content that is obscene, defamatory, discriminatory, infringing or otherwise inappropriate or unsuitable for publication to general audiences.
All entries become the property of the Sponsor and will not be acknowledged or returned, except as provided herein.
In the event of any dispute, entries will be deemed to have been made by the individual to whom the e-mail address submitted with the entry is registered.
4. Judging Criteria/ Winner Selection: All eligible entries will be evaluated by Promotional Expressions LLC, a qualified, independent judging agency (“Judges”) based on the following criteria: Originality (50%); and Creativity (50%).
The entry receiving the highest score on the basis of the above criteria will be declared the winner of the prize described in Rule 5, below. In the event of a tie, the tied entrant with the highest score in the ”Creativity” criterion will be declared the winner. The decisions of the Judges in all matters relating to the Contest will be final and binding. Judging will be conducted on or about 9/1/13.
